HTTTC Kumba pioneer director appointed, installed

Cameroon Headlines, Buea, June 14 – Joyce Bayande Endeley, Professor of Agricultural Extension Education, has been appointed and installed as the pioneer director of the Higher Technical Teachers’ Training College (HTTTC) Kumba.
Formerly serving at the University of Buea, UB, as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in-charge of Teaching, Professionalization and Development of Information and Communication Technologies, Joyce Endeley was appointed by a Presidential Decree, June 4, and installed June 11.
The installation at the Dorothy Limunga Njeuma Amphitheatre was presided over by UB Vice-Chancellor, Dr.  Nalova Lyonga.
In her installation speech, the Vice-Chancellor challenged the pioneer director of HTTTC Kumba to get to work so that lectures can effectively take-off for the 2014/2015 academic year sometime in September.
“Much is expected of you and you must live up to the challenge,” the Vice-Chancellor said, cautioning that errors will not be tolerated, given Prof. Endeley’s rich professional and academic background.
Nalova said the pressing issue at hand is the drawing up of the syllabuses for the fourteen departments of the school and also look for accommodation.
The HTTTC director said they have been offered office space at the Kumba City Council and that lecture space has been allocated at the Government Teacher Training College Kumba and the Government Technical High School Kumba.

REACTIONS
Hon. Samuel Bokwe Ngoe
Finally, we are all very happy that the director of HTTTC Kumba has been appointed and installed. With the installation, we are hoping that the school will take off smoothly this academic year. We are very happy that President Biya has kept to his words and promise. We expect that she manages the school well and ensure that there is peace. We don’t want any situation of violence. We are here to show our joy that a child of Meme has been appointed. We thank President Biya for recognising that a Meme daughter can head this school. We give her our full support.

Nalova Lyonga, UB Vice-Chancellor
HTTTC will start in September. The syllabus committee is working on the syllabus together with the newly appointed officials of the school. We’ll work out the programs. The venue remains Kumba. You cannot just create a castle in one day. The Government Teachers’ Training College (GTTC) Kumba have been so nice to give us some space. We are going to see what to do with that space. It is not enough, but we are going to see what to do. We’re going to start gradually. The ministry has put some money at our disposal for this interim period. So we are going to use this period to put in our maximum.
Victor Nkelle Ngoh, Kumba Government Delegate
She should move to work. We know she is very much competent and we expect a lot from her. We’re giving her all the moral support she needs. We’re also providing material support, in terms of office space and other pressing needs at our level. Everything is coming. We are here today because of her. The institution is still very new, but it is at the same time very promising. The Head of State has done a wonderful thing for the people of Kumba.
The Very Rev. Nyansako-ni-Nku, former PCC Moderator
We know the pioneer director of HTTTC Kumba  as a very competent and hardworking person. She is very efficient and patriotic.  She has a lot of space in her heart for love of God and love of country. We expect that  she will do her best to lay a very solid foundation for HTTTC Kumba. We cannot expect anything better than what we know her to  do. We pray God guides here in this very exacting task.
HRM Chief Dr.       of Kake II
From her profile, we’re expecting a lot from her and we are blessed that we have a woman of her standing called upon to lay the foundation for the school. With her great profile, I’m sure the school will be made great as well. She will bring the  light from Buea to Kumba. We are going to  give her a lot of support. We shall rally the population to stand behind her and send their chil;dren there so that the college will grow from strength to strength.

Akwo Esambe, President of Bafaw Cultural and Development Association
We first of all want to appreciate what has happened. Being people who believe in God, I want to strongly believe that God is going to endow her with all the wisdom she needs, equip her so that she can forge ahead as pioneer director for others to come after her. We expect much from her and so we are also going to give her much support. Our turn out today is testimony of our support for her and the Head of State.

Joyce Endeley, Director of HTTTC Kumba
The elite is very enthusiastic and are willing to give whatever support they can to make sure that the school take off. I want to  tell you that the Government Delegate to the Kumba City Council has given us certain parts of his building. It will be renovated for us to move in soonest. We can start putting our syllabuses together and the budgeting and basic administrative procedures can move on. The minister has been so supportive, doing his best to make sure that the subvention comes on time. We also need clearance from the ministry of secondary education to use the site we have chosen at SOPHATI and GTTC. We have a couple of buildings there, but we are waiting for the clearance. We’ll need to renovate the structures soon after.
It won’t be long before the government calls for the competitive exams. Then, we’ll know the number of students to admit and the number of programs to run. Once that comes out, I presume kit will be accompanied by the subvention, then we will be able to sit together to see how to do sensitisation.
