8 Ultra modern
classrooms for GTTTC Kumba soon
The pioneer Director of the newly created Government Technical Teachers
Training College, ENGET,Kumba, Otu David Orock has disclosed that in no
distant time the college, will be having 8 ultra modern classrooms that
will be constructed in Mambanda, Kumba III sub Division. He made this
disclosure to the THE SUN, during a Press briefing.
He disclosed that the 8
sophisticated classrooms including workshops will be constructed thanks to fund
allocated under the 2014 Public Investment Budget.
With the Construction of
the permanent site of the school they will hence relocate since they are
currently in a temporal site, the Director disclosed.
ENGNET Kumba, which
according to the Director is the second in Anglophone Cameroon after that of
Mbengwi in the North West Region went operational in late 2013, has 8
departments and is blessed with an enrollment of 217 students. Following the
restructuring of the program of the training and owing to the fact graduates
are not recruited directly into the public service, the Director hinted
that since the graduates are senior Technicians, they can be easily absorbed by
the Small and Medium Size Enterprises.
As for the meantime, the
bottlenecks of the institution remains that of infrastructure and lack of
workshops where the students can exercise their professionalism. He opined that
the school is under staff and above all has no government recruited staff, reasons
why they have recruited 13 part time teachers.
On the problem of lack
of a school workshop, the Director noted that, the school have partner with
some workshops in town where the students usual go for practical.
