“I wrote to Biya about neglect of Tiko Airport” – Tiko Elite

BY ATIA TILARIOUS AZOHNWI

The Board Chairman of the Mutengene Vision Association (MUVA), who doubles as Coordinator of the Network of Friends and Elite of Tiko (Tiko-Net), Nouck Protus Bilap has told The Sun that he wrote to President Paul Biya about the neglect of the Tiko Aiport.

“It is true I mentioned it to a few friends that I would draw the attention of the Head of State to the apparent neglect of the Tiko Airport, in the arrangements that were made for the Reunification Celebrations. This was in mid 2013, when it was announced over and over that all major Reunification Celebration projects had been completed or nearing completion,” Nouck said.
“Surprisingly,” he went on there was hardly any mention of the Tiko Airport, in spite of its key symbolism in the Reunification process. The message to President Biya was sent to him on May 6, 2013 through the official online medium of the Presidency and only a few days afterwards, there was sudden attention being paid to the Tiko Airport.”
To Nouck, his little letter had made a strong point or a reminder. In the letter to the Head of State, a draft we procured, Nouck says “It does not speak well of us that the Tiko International Airport is in tatters while we celebrate this important milestone in our national history. It is this airport that was used by foreign leaders who visited Southern Cameroons, by international diplomats who came to discuss the 1961 Plebiscite and Southern Cameroons re-joining the Republic of Cameroon, by officials who came from London for the lowering of the Union Jack and by national leaders.”
“I am confirming this at this moment to underline the fact that we have a President who listens and acts and to assure all and sundry that there is effective communication between the people and their President,” Nouck said.

Nouck Protus Bilap: “I wrote to Biya about neglect of Tiko Airport
“In these capacities and in my personal name, I want to thank the Head of State for this special attention given to Tiko, within the scope of these celebrations; not only for the face-left given to the airport and the road leading to it, but also for the street lighting. It is my hope that the refurbishing and full reactivation of the Tiko Airport shall continue as well as efforts to attend to other social and economic preoccupations of our people,” he concluded.
