The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front
(SDF) party, Ni John Fru Ndi has described the February 20 celebrations to mark
the 50th anniversary of reunification as a camouflage insisting that
Anglophones remain marginalised.
“The celebrations today are a camouflage. They did
not come out to address the issues of the day. We are celebrating 53 years of
unification. The march-past did not show the picture of one person who fought
for the unification. It was all Mr. Biya. Was it Mr. Biya’s feast or a feast
for unification? And if he did not mention these, it means the occasion of today
is a faze and a camouflage”, he said.
“Secondly, so much has been said. People have
discussed so much. The problem of Cameroon is constitutional crisis and during
the tripartite, Mr. Biya set up a committee to review the constitution which
was made up of Benjamin Itoe, Anyangwe, Elad, Munzou and Joseph Owona,” Fru Ndi
went on.

His words: “So, can we now take advantage of this
and go back to the drawing board and look at the constitution of our country,
review it, and address where the Anglophones are hurt.”
Presidential protocol
embarrass Fru Ndi
SDF Chairman Fru Ndi protested the decision of the Presidential
Protocol for him to sit in a position he described as obscure during the
official celebrations of the 50th anniversary of reunification on
February 20.
Quizzed on why he stood for about 10 minutes without
sitting until his sitting position was changed, Fru Ndi said, “But you saw the
way I was being dribbled here. I’m I somebody to be dribbled in this country?
You see, they tried to address the issues of unification, but they have not
address the present day issues and I’m happy Mr. Biya said he gave 250.000 jobs
to the youths and he has seen the youth just in Buea here matching. What is his
opinion of that? When you don’t industrialise the country and you only come up
with shortcut methods to think that you can deceive the people. You can deceive
some of the time, but not all the time.
