The ongoing 11th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Cameroon took an interesting on its fourth lap from Douala to Buea, through Limbe, covering a 100 kilometres, as the cyclists scrambled to get food that was in short supply.
After the brief
ceremony that followed the arrival of the cyclists at the finish line at Bongo
Square, the cyclists were referred to go for refreshment at the Parliamentarian
Flat Hotel, while the administrative officials were reserved food at Mountain
Hotel.
The food
reserved for the athletes seemed in sufficient as each scrambled to get food,
but before the crowded queue could get to the food table with their plates and cutlery
in hand, the food was finish.
While the athletes
juggled for space and food, top officials enjoyed plenty of food and drinks, in
which case they left food behind.
The cyclists
left Buea disgruntled, given that even those who had food to eat did not have mare
water to drink. Some of the officials, especially of the communication,
transportation and environment & ecology sub-committees did not have food
to eat.
