Eto’o Promises to Expose Detractors to The President After World Cup

Samuel Eto’o Fils, Cameroon’s national football team captain, has promised that he will expose all those who attacked him, and those who have hidden hands behind certain happenings in the team. He said he will disclose some revelations that should enable Cameroonians to determine who loves his country and who does not.

Eto’o was speaking to Francetvsport, a day before the Cameroon-Croatia encounter which ended with a humiliating 4-0 score in favor of Croatia. Eto’o, refused to say whether or not he was fit to play the match, rather telling the French media organ, that even if he was fit, he would not be revealing his status.

“Football is also about little secrets like that. Every team does it. It is a normal strategy,” he said, adding that whether or not he is among the starting 11, he will give the best of himself for the team to win. “We deserve victory. We have been through a lot of things. I hope the gods of football will give us victory.”


They didn’t get it. Instead of fighting Croatia, they fought against themselves, a thing that became a big embarrassment to the country.


The indomitable lions’ captain said he still has the same zeal to play as when he was 17 years old, but complained that he has been suffering from a knee injury for 4months –a period during which he managed to play in his club. He noted that he missed some training sessions with the lions because of the injury which got worse during the match they played against Mexico. They lost to Mexico no goal to one.


Talking about the poor performances of the team in recent years, Eto’o pointed out that the team is under reconstruction. Referring to Spanish Barcelona FC, he said it was built in 10years to enable it get the trophies it has recorded. He said he and his team mates had one objective, which was to win but some individuals were out to destroy the team.


“Football administrators are shocked to see us sharing happy moments.”  He noted that even if they lose the match against Croatia, they were going to remain united. He, however, stated that he knows how the team functions because he has been part of it since he was 17 years old. “Nobody will come and try to instil disorder in the team.”


Asked who he plans to expose after the world cup, Eto’o said he will only reveal the names after the tournament so that the president can be aware of what is happening. “I don’t care who attacks me after that. I will not fall for blackmail” Eto’o said.
